Flocked
Baskings, Arrangements, and Pillow Fight Warriors.
The later half of my Medalta residency, I pushed scale and form beyond what I thought was possible through to a completely new set of broken rules. My Baskings have grown to 50” widths and my further discussion with cultural maintenance has shown no sign of letting up with my flower arranging maintenance vessels with garden hose. With this series, I am noticing further overlap with my blending of material and my insight into where I am headed. Many times I have heard, in current and past pieces, persistent echoes of future work that take hold of me, unconsciously, to surprise me yet again when they manifest in my muddy hands. Blending surface texture with form is something that I have always found intriguing, and this is just the beginning of what I refer to as the great squeeze.
